This maple western maple cabinet was a little bit of an experiment in design. I wanted to try something different with the doors, which resulted in these bookmatched live edge panels. The drawer and door pulls were hand carved out of splated maple. I used mortise and tenon joinery throughout most of the piece. The drawer box and storage shelf is made of salvaged red alder. The western maple tree came from the firewood pile in a sawyers yard on Vancouver Island. It has been finished with polyurethane and beeswax.
