This concrete and Douglas Fir vanity was another collaboration between True Concrete Designs and Live Timber. Derek Boudreau, the owner of True Concrete Designs already had the concrete vanity built and was looking for a bottom that would not only show off his work but accentuate it. The base was made from salvaged Douglas Fir timbers. The wood has been scorched and then brushed to a very smooth finish which gives it a textured and combed finish. This traditional Japanese process, called Shou-Sugi-Ban, makes the wood resistant to fire, rot and pests. The base has been finished with a polyurethane and beeswax blend.
