A Dream Bunk Bed Project on Shuswap Lake

At Live Timber, we love bringing creative visions to life through custom projects. One of our highlights from 2024 was a beautiful bunk bed installation designed by Tanya from Nevo Design House. Set in a brand new home on Shuswap Lake, this project perfectly balances style, functionality, and craftsmanship.

The Vision: Designed to Inspire

Tanya’s carefully thought-out plans laid the groundwork for this project. Her design featured a smart layout and a mix of materials that combined practicality with visual appeal. With her clear guidance, we were able to turn her vision into reality, focusing on every detail along the way.

Materials: A Perfect Blend

The materials used in this project created a beautiful contrast between the wood and the bold white finishes.

Oak Details: Red oak was used for the bottom twin beds, the ladder, and the guardrails to add warmth, durability, and a touch of natural charm.
Paint-Grade Framework: The twin bed structure and queen bed nooks were crafted from paint-grade materials, and then finished with a crisp and clean white, which complements the oak elements.

Crafting the Design

With Tanya’s detailed plans, the building process in our shop was smooth and efficient. Building it in the shop allowed us to have better control over all the details and ensure that it went together seamlessly onsite.

Onsite Installation

The installation at Shuswap Lake went smoothly, and the results were worth the effort. The bunk beds now make the most of the space, comfortably sleeping up to six people with twin beds on the lower level and queen beds tucked into the upper nooks. This thoughtful design creates a welcoming space for both family and guests.

Blending Beauty and Function

These bunk beds aren’t just functional—they’re a standout feature of the home. The combination of natural oak and crisp painted finishes adds timeless charm while fitting perfectly with the lakeside setting. It’s a piece designed to be both practical and beautiful for years to come.

"Sascha transformed by bathroom by replacing my tub with a beautiful 3 sided walk-in shower. He included suggestions of a few types of products according to my wants/needs and all products are top quality. He also utilized local vendors for a custom glass panel - which I appreciate as I try to shop local/smaller businesses whenever possible. I was kept up to date with the time-line and budget and it was easy for me to access it all on-line. This was important as I was actually out of the province while most of the renos were being done.
